Donald Keith Helwig, age 67, of North Anglin Branch, Grayson, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020, at his residence.
Born April 24, 1952, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Jack Willard Helwig, Jr. and Mary Ellen Moran Helwig. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Belinda Helwig.
He is survived by one son, Cameron Griffith of Sandy Hook; two daughters, Krishna (Mark) Horton and Erica (Royce) Collett, all of Sandy Hook; three brothers, Jack Helwig of Babson Park, Florida, Lee Helwig of Morehead, and Steve Helwig of West Liberty; four grandchildren, Kaleb Wipert, Brayden Collett, Blake Collett, and Braxton Griffith; several nieces and nephews; other extended family members; and many friends.
Donald was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired truck driver for Addcar Mining Systems. He enjoyed NASCAR, drag racing, U.K. basketball, watching football, loafing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder Roy Collett officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
