Derek Reed Williams

Derek Reed Williams, age 46, of Mt. Hope Road, Morehead, KY, went on to be with God on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at his residence.

Born November 29, 1976, in Lexington, KY, he is the son of Gwendolyn Watkins Williams of Morehead and the late Reed Williams, Jr.  

In addition to his mother, other survivors include his fiancée, Mary Lloyd of Morehead and her sons, Hayden Oney of Salt Lick and Cory Johnson of Morehead; a young man he loved dearly, Devin Williamson of Pikeville; a brother, Alex “Todd” Williams of Morehead, an uncle, William “Bill” Watkins of Jackson; a special niece, Rhianna Lynn Williams of Jackson; a cousin, Cassie and husband Kevin Graham and their children, Waylon and Cash of Campton, as well as extended family and many friends. 

Derek graduated from Breathitt County High School and earned an associate's degree in Lexington.  He was a former employee of Cave Run Overhead Door and was currently employed at Independent Stave Mill in Morehead. 

He enjoyed dirt track racing and spending time with family and friends.  Derek will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2023, at Big Woods Community Church (Dan Ridge Road, Wellington, KY) with Bro. Jess Brewer officiating.  Burial will follow in the Big Woods Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351
