Delmer Curtis Jent, age 75, of Cold Springs Hollow, Morehead, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born October 14, 1944, in Rowan County, he was the youngest child of Harvey and Myrtle Lewis Jent. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Robert, Allie, Ervin, Harvey L. Jr., Willard, Charlie and Roy Jent; four sisters, Gertrude Riddle, Olive Taylor, Elizabeth Cooper, and Frances Anderson; one son, Gregory “Greg” Scott Jent; one son-in-law, Daniel Reece Hampton; one grandson; and one great granddaughter.
Delmer’s wife of 34 years, Billie Jo Matthews Jent, whom he married May 11, 1980, passed away on November 20, 2014.
He is survived by four daughters, Rhonda Jo Hampton of Morehead, Stephanie (Dexter) Brickey of Sandy Hook, Tina Jent of Morehead, and Tiffany (Richie) Jackson of Morehead; one son, Curtis Wayne (Missy) Jent of Morehead; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren (with another blessing on the way); numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.
Delmer was a self-employed mechanic who owned and operated Jent’s Garage for a number of years. He loved his family and spending time with them. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, and watching U.K. basketball and NASCAR. He was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan and enjoyed collecting his memorabilia. Delmer was of the Apostolic faith and will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Memorial Chapel with Brother Arnold Ison and Brother Clyde Mays officiating. Burial will follow in the Jent Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Jent, Dexter Brickey, Richie Jackson, Ethan Jent, Isaac Royse, and Ryan Jent.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
