Delbert W. Lemaster, age 93, of Lexington, formerly of Clearfield, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021, at Northpoint Healthcare in Lexington.
Born December 23, 1927, in Ashland, Delbert was the son of Lonnie and Mary McKenzie Lemaster. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters: Hubert Lemaster, Robert “Bob” Lemaster and Don Lemaster; Magdalene Tackett, Dorothy Armstrong, and Nancy Johnson.
Delbert’s loving wife, Gladys Donahue Lemaster, whom he wed April 6, 1956, passed away July 9, 2007.
Delbert is survived by his devoted daughter, Debbie Vinson and husband David of Lexington; his granddaughter, Ashley Ales and husband Chris of Union, Kentucky; two great grandchildren, Cooper and Lainey Ales; his “adopted son,” Mark Eccles of Lawrenceburg; and special nieces, Lora Donahue of Morehead and Carla Zacher of Lexington. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and special friends and caregivers at Northpoint.
A respected member of the community, Delbert was a well-known painter from Ashland to Morehead. He often joked about painting half of Morehead and never failed to mention painting Northcutt & Son during the seventies. He and Gladys were faithful members of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God.
He loved spending time with his family and especially his great grandchildren. He also loved the water--being in the pool or lake, tanning beside the water (more than most men we know!) or fishing. He greatly enjoyed feeding the birds and spoiling his devoted dog, Prissy.
Mr. Lemaster loved to make people laugh. He always had a good joke and became quite proficient at pulling pranks. He never met a stranger and until the end enjoyed his everyday activities. He was a Christian and loved attending church when he was able and still enjoyed WLJC singing. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Cecil Ison officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Mark Eccles, Nathan Eccles, Cooper Ales, Chris Ales, David Vinson, and Gary McIntosh.
Visitation will be 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
