David Lee Malone

David Lee Malone, age 86, of Morehead, Kentucky (formerly of Fairborn, Ohio), passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at UK St. Claire. He was born August 6, 1939, in Ironton, Ohio, to the late Orlyn and Audrey Malone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Brian H. Malone; two brothers, Arnold K. Malone and Billy Ray Malone; and his son-in-law, Anthony Lee Ferguson.

David proudly served in the United States Armed Forces. He later dedicated over 44 years to Southwestern Portland Cement Company (Cemex USA), where he worked in the plant before transitioning to a sales assistant position prior to his retirement.

David loved working outdoors and took great pride in caring for his home, especially mowing the lawn. Above all, he cherished time with his family. Whether sharing a meal, telling stories, or simply enjoying one another’s company, those moments brought him his greatest joy. His love, humor, and gentle presence will be deeply missed, and the memories he leaves behind will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lydonna Lewis Malone; three children, Darrick Paul (Robbin) Malone of Yellow Springs, Ohio, Teresa Dawn (David) Ellett of Morehead, Kentucky, and Shawna Michelle Malone of Morehead; and daughter-in-law Sheryl Griego Malone of Yellow Springs. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Katie (Tyler) Slone, Danielle (Jody) Grigsby, Emily (Ryan) LeMay, David Paul (Michaella) Malone, Alexis (Brandon) Meddings, Amber Malone, and Caleb Sheppard; and twelve great-grandchildren: Braxton Slone, Addison Grigsby, Blakely Slone, Slater LeMay, Waylon Malone, Bodhi LeMay, Madilynn Malone, Baylor Slone, Sunny LeMay, Kingston Meddings, Blakely Meddings, and Piper LeMay. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Vernon Lewis and Pastor Silas Hoskins officiating. Immediately following the service, Morehead American Legion Post 126 will present full military honors at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the William H. Lewis Cemetery on Highway 1002 in Blaze, Kentucky.

Pallbearers will be Darrick Malone, David Ellett, Jody Grigsby, David Paul Malone, Brandon Meddings, Tyler Slone, and Ryan LeMay.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
