Colleen Sloan Kidd, age 71, of R Kidd Road, Morehead, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

Born September 2, 1949, in Morgan County, she was the daughter of the late Vercil “Did” Sloan and Lornelle Brown Sloan.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ricky Lee Sloan, and one sister, Brenda Jean Hunt.

Colleen is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ed Kidd, whom she married December 14, 1968; one daughter, Diana Jo Stegall and husband Chris of Morehead; one granddaughter, Kandra Renee Stevens and husband Johnny; one great granddaughter, who was Colleen’s pride and joy, Linlee Rai Stevens, and Kristi Holbrook who is considered a grandchild.

Other survivors include four brothers:  Ronnie David Sloan and Patricia of Morehead, Donnie Dale Sloan of Kettering, Ohio, Mickie Edward Sloan and Carol of Morehead, and Michael Dean Sloan of Morehead; three sisters, Vicky Ann Kidd and Alvin, Sharon Kay Trent and Gary, Teresa Lynn Williams and Forrest, all of Morehead; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

After Colleen and Ed married in 1968, they moved to Dayton, Ohio, where Colleen worked at a doughnut shop until they returned to Morehead in 1980.  She was primarily a homemaker until she and her sister Jean established the Elliottville Diner about the year 2000 and operated it until 2008.  Colleen loved her family and greatly enjoyed taking care of her precious grand and great grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Granny “CoCo.”  She always loved her annual mother-daughter trip and was looking forward to another trip this year.  Colleen enjoyed helping others and was known for her charitable giving to anyone in need.  A devoted Christian, she attended the East End Church of God.
