Clester Vernon Estep, age 91, of Cranston Road, Morehead, was born September 3, 1934, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026, at his home.
Vernon was a son of the late Howard Estep and Lena Gregory Estep. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Evans Estep, on October 11, 2019; two sisters, Phyllis Adkins and Guyneth Hamilton; and one great-grandson, Kestrel Brown.
He is survived by one daughter, Melissa Kinder and husband Greg of Morehead; one son, Harold Craig Estep and wife Brenda of Morehead; one brother, Woody Estep of Vero Beach, Florida; three grandchildren, Jessica Estep-Tam, Lindsay Brown, and Morgan Craft; nine great-grandchildren, Caleb, Emma, and Marigold Brown; Phineas, Lydia, and Beniah Tam; Octavia Craft; and Max and Beau Hudnall; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.
Vernon proudly served his country in the United States Army. In the early 1960s, Vernon moved to New Lebanon, Ohio, where he worked for many years and retired as a group leader from General Motors. He and his wife returned to Morehead in 1997. Vernon enjoyed farming, listening to bluegrass music, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to fix something. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Don Evans officiating. Immediately following the service, Morehead American Legion Post 126 will present full military honors at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Estep Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Brown, Michael Craft, Vion Tam, Greg Kinder, Mark Esham, and Cody Esham.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, Kentucky 40351.
