Clayton Adams, age 85, of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Bluegrass Hospice Care Center at UK Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington.
Clayton was born November 12, 1939, in Carter County, a son of the late Gilbert Adams and Clara Johnson Adams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Tabor Adams; one brother, Anthony Adams and two sisters, Beulah Wagner and Blanche Carroll.
Survivors include his wife Diana Collins Adams; one son, Clayton “Anthony” Adams and Leigh Ann of Hillsboro; one daughter, Kelly Machelle Reeves and Jeff of Hillsboro; one grandson, Bobby Hanshel; one stepdaughter, Delilah Wellman of Clearfield; three step grandchildren, Jagger Wellman, Jaedyn Jones, and Jasmine Wellman; and one step great-grandson, Atticus Wellman.
Others to cherish his memory include four sisters, Gladys Gilbert, Kathy Knight, and Janie Bond, all of Olive Hill, and Sherry Sparks of Morehead, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Clayton retired from A O Smith after more than 30 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed mowing, working on cars, talking on the phone with friends, and spending time with family, especially his grandson “Litle Buddy” Bobby. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor James Engle officiating. Burial will follow in Biggs Kiser Cemetery in Carter County.
Pallbearers: Jeff Reeves, Bobby Hanshel, Travis Engle, Shelby Hall, James Donathan, and Jagger Wellman. Honorary pallbearers: Anthony Dehart and Herman Shelley.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
