Charlene Black Obituary

 

Charlene Mae Hamilton Black, age 78, of Hendrix Road, Owingsville, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

 

Born September 9, 1943, in Peebles, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late John Isaac Hamilton and Mary Elizabeth Bennett Donathan.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

 

Charlene is survived by her husband of 58 years, Willie E. Black, whom she wed June 29, 1963; two children, Elizabeth Darlene Black Buckner and Randy of Owingsville and Wm. David Black and John of Suffolk, Virginia; two granddaughters, Natalie M. Black-Huff (Ryan) of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Felicia P. Buckner Richards (Tyler) of Owingsville; one grandson, Nick Price (Vickie) of Spring Branch, Texas;  10 great grandchildren, Olyvea, Emmett and Maddox Huff; Emmalyn, Harper and Briley Richards; Aryana, Nykolas, Vincent and Oliver Price; and a host of nieces and nephews.  

 

Charlene was a retired accountant for the Civil Service.  A devoted military wife and mom, she loved all her family but especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She enjoyed gardening and canning, cooking for anyone and everyone, and sharing her delicious jam cake with friends and family alike.  She also enjoyed traveling, camping and for a number of years bowling.  She was an avid Bingo player, a lifetime member of the Simon Kenton VFW Auxiliary Post 2734, and attended East Fork Church of God.  She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

 

 

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at East Fork Church of God with Brother Billy Harmon officiating.  Burial will follow in Longview Cemetery in Bethel.

 

Pallbearers:  Tyler Richards, Randy Buckner, Phillip Conrad, Jeff Harmon, Dean Williams and Patrick Hunt.   Honorary Pallbearers:  Mike Harmon, Asa Hall, Donnie Anderson, Lonnie Vice, Dave Rodgers, Larry Purvis, Lawrence Jones, Ryan Huff, Anthony Bailey, and Chandler Otis.

 

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351 and after 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at East Fork Church of God, 4428 East Fork Road, Owingsville, KY 40360.
