Cecil Ray “Tookie” Adkins, age 75, of Crum Road, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born June 20, 1946, at Trent Ridge in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Johnny and Jewell Dillon Adkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Adkins and Avery Adkins.
On August 17, 1968, he was united in marriage to his loving wife of fifty years, Louise Sloan Adkins, who passed away May 2, 2019.
“Tookie” is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Newt) Stevens; one grandson, Jesse Burton; and three great grandsons, Hayden, Parker, and Cameron Burton, all of Morehead; seven step grandsons, Shawn (Bonnie) Stevens, Christopher (Beth) Stevens, Josh (Becki) Stevens, Jason (Ashley) Stevens, Timothy (Holly) Stevens, Daniel Stevens, and Jonathan (Tiffany) Stevens; and 22 step grandchildren.
Other survivors include one sister, Connie (David) Mason of Ashland, Ohio, extended family and friends.
“Tookie” was a mechanic and former employee of Ruth Brothers Construction and Abner Construction. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Monroe Craig officiating. Burial will follow in the Trent Cemetery on Rainbow Road.
Pallbearers: Dale Sloan, Jonathan Stevens, Jesse Burton, Randy Quesinberry, Dennis Trent, Chris Stevens, Jason Stevens, and Shawn Stevens.
Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
