Carrie Wells Obituary

Carrie Nan Lytle Wells, age 82, of Bluestone Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

Born October 22, 1936, at Brooksville, in Bracken County, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Novenda Elrod Lytle.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwood Lytle and Calvin Ray Lytle.

Nan and the love of her life, Bill Tom Wells, who passed away May 7, 2006, were parents to five children:  two sons, William C. “B” Wells and wife Anita of Hillsboro and Raymond Wells and wife Emelyn of Salt Lick; three daughters, Nicki Wells of Crystal River, Florida, Jani Mica Wells of Morehead, and Celia Wells of Morehead; five grandchildren, Travis Wells, Dustin Wells, Adrian Kidd, Carrie Sorrell, and Novenda Wells; and one great grandson, Mason Ray Wells.

She also leaves behind her twin brother, Nick Lytle, and his wife Charlene of Morehead, as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, including Gene Elwood Lytle of Colorado, extended family and friends.

A well-known person in the Morehead community, Nan graduated from University Breckinridge in 1954 where she was a cheerleader and active in many student organizations.  A lifelong member of the Morehead First Baptist Church, Nan was recognized as the most long-standing current member. In addition to being a faithful member, she enjoyed playing church league softball, serving as the church historian, and helping wherever she was needed.  As a historian and genealogist, Nan was diligent about sending photographs and information to The Kentucky Explorer magazine.

Nan loved all her family and was a devoted stay-at-home mother.  In addition to raising her five children and attending nearly all their events, she received the same joy from her grandchildren.  She also found time to enjoy the great outdoors, mow the yard, nurture flowers, swim, and marvel at the beauty of nature.  Her passion for rock hunting had been a feature story in The Morehead News.

Nan will long be remembered for her unselfish love for her family, her church family, and anyone in need.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Alex Lockridge officiating.  Nan will be laid to rest with her family in the Lenoxburg Cemetery in Bracken County.

Pallbearers:  Travis Wells, Adrian Kidd, Carrie Sorrell, Novenda Wells, B Wells, Raymond Wells, Dustin Wells.
