Bruce Ray Greer

Bruce Ray Greer was born on June 27, 1963, and passed away on September 30, 2022, at Community Hospice in Ashland, Kentucky, after an extended illness.

He is survived by his wife, Sheree Greer of Ashland, KY; his daughter, Bethany Greer of Alton, IL; his sons, Nathan Greer of Edwardsville, IL, Zachary Greer of Belleville IL, Christopher Greer of East Alton, IL, and Jordan Greer of Wood River IL; his stepchildren, Caitlin Winkler of Grayson KY, and Benjamin Winkler of Atlanta, GA; and his granddaughter, Lily Wilson of Grayson, KY. He is also survived by his brother, Stephen Greer of Illinois; and two nephews, Gary Greer of Arkansas and Jonathan Greer of Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and W. Rene Greer of Wood River, IL.

Bruce Greer’s life was multi-faceted including working in steel mills, driving big trucks, working maintenance, and owning his own restaurant with his parents. When the time came that he could no longer work in these industries, he decided to return to school in his late 40’s and complete his college education. Upon completion of his undergraduate and graduate degrees, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of teaching history and political science at the college level.

Throughout his life, Bruce persevered, and even in his last days of his illness he had hope and looked forward to the future.
