Bruce Allen Carter, Sr., of Campton, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the Greg & Noreen Well Hospice Center in Hazard.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Derita Carter; five daughters, Tobi Caudill, Amanda Jones, Adrienne Brock, Taylor King, and Emmie Carter; one son, Bruce Allen Carter, Jr. (Sydney); and 13 grandchildren, Jamie, McKenzie, Anna, Laney, Zeke, Carter, Clara, Aaron, Tommy, Ava, Kyle, Jackie, and Bryce.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vinson Carter of Huntington, West Virginia, and Marie Goodlett and step father, Jim Goodlett, and an older brother, Steve Carter.
Bruce retired after 21 years from Bourbon Community Hospital as director of respiratory care, radiology, sleep lab, and cardiac and pulmonary rehab. He was board certified in sleep medicine and was crucial in opening many sleep labs across Kentucky. Bruce didn’t always work in healthcare taking care of others. He started working at eight years old in his family’s business managing hotels across the United States.
Bruce was beloved by his family and community. He was a devoted Christian and member of the Campton Church of Christ. Bruce spent many hours studying religion and becoming closer to God. He loved being outside, spending time with his dog Buford, and traveling.
Bruce lived for his family and loved spending all of his time with them. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Scotty Halsey officiating.
A visitation of remembrance will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351
