Brenda Sue Trent, age 84, of Owingsville, Kentucky, passed peacefully into the arms of her loving Savior on Sunday morning, February 1, 2026.
Lovingly known as “Susie” to family and friends and affectionately called “Mom” and “Mamaw Susie” by her most treasured gifts on this earth, Brenda was a woman whose love knew no limits.
She was born August 21, 1941, to the late Woodson and Nancy Hunt McCarty. In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Homer Trent; five brothers, Jack, Herbert, Charles, Dewey McCarty, and Jimmy McCarty; four sisters, Norma Stone, Mary Riddle, Christine Bailey, and Gloria Garrard; one granddaughter, Sabrina Trent; and one grandson-in-law, Travis Browning.
Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Buckler, and her late husband, Jimmy Buckler; two sons, Bobby Trent and wife Brenda, and Carl Trent; and one sister, Minnie McCarty.
Also surviving are her precious grandchildren: Crystal Lewis (George), Misty Otis (Jamie), Bobby Scott Trent (Jessica), Daisy Trent, and Carla Trent; and six great grandchildren, Tyler Browning (Janelle), Chandler Otis (Lyndsey), Victoria Otis (Corey Sturgill), Zachary Otis, Austin Trent, and Kierra Trent.
Several nieces and nephews also survive, along with a host of special family members, friends, and neighbors who became family over the years—sharing many beautiful days with her on the porch she loved so much.
Brenda was a former 37-year employee of Bluegrass Industries and Jockey International, a devoted homemaker, and a mender of all things—both in her home and in the hearts of those she loved. She was a lifelong, faithful member of East Fork First Church of God in Bath County.
Brenda found her greatest joy in spending priceless time with her precious family and was an absolutely amazing cook. She could often be found in the kitchen making her famous homemade biscuits and gravy or fried chicken, happiest of all when her babies—Chandler, Tori, and Zack—were gathered around the table, sharing their day with her. She had a loving way about her that couldn’t be taught, making everyone feel welcomed and valued, as though they were the most important person in the room. Her caring nature and compassion toward others were evident in everyday life, and she never hesitated to say “I love you.” She believed every day was worth celebrating.
Brenda loved Gospel music, especially her favorite singing group, God Sent. She often said Mike, Jen, and Vickie were the best she had ever heard. While we have lost one of the sweetest souls, we take comfort in knowing we will meet her again in Heaven. If she were here, she would remind us to love our people and let them know—don’t wait—to live for Jesus, and to find joy in the simple things in life, just as she did.
She was a wonderful mother and a cherished grandmother, whose love and devotion to her family were the foundation of her life. If you ever met her, you were truly blessed and deeply loved.
Leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love and compassion, Brenda Sue “Susie” Trent will be remembered forever and loved always.
