Bobby Eugene Tackett, Sr., age 78, of Moores Flat Road, Morehead, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born April 17, 1943, in Globe, he was a son of the late Kenneth Tackett and Dorothy Williams Tackett. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Jean Wilt Tackett on September 22, 2001; his second wife, Diane Faye Wells Tackett on May 28, 2021; a daughter, Teresa Tackett; two brothers, James Tackett and Kenny Tackett; and a sister, Virgie Pettit.
Bobby is survived by two sons, Michael A. Tackett of Morehead and Bobby Jr. (Amy) Tackett of Morehead; three step daughters, Shelley (Larry) Lykins of Salt Lick, Sabrina Quesinberry (TJ May), and Tiffany (Jason) Smedley, all of Morehead; nine grandchildren, Summer Andrews, Autumn Reffitt, Bailey Tackett, Bentley Tackett, Kalli Tackett, Jacob Smith, Jace Walling, James Earls, and Kyndal Lykins; and two great grandchildren, Raelynn Andrews and Jaiden Archer.
He is also survived by one sister, Connie Pettit of Morehead; one brother, Arlin “Pete” (Diane) Tackett of Cleveland, Ohio; a host nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.
A Vietnam veteran, Bobby served on aircraft carriers in the United States Navy for four years. After returning from service, he moved to Ohio where he met Ruth and worked for Alcoa Aluminum for two years. They moved to Kentucky and Bob became a delivery driver for Rainbow Bread Company and was later promoted to supervisor. In August of 1982, he started working for Little Debbie delivering to country stores and supermarkets in 11 counties. He retired after 24 years of service. Bobby was known to “like everyone” and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his family and spending time with them, especially the grandchildren. Serving the Lord was his main priority. He was a faithful member of the Family of God Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p. m. Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bobby Tackett, Jr. and Pastor Andy Lands officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post 126.
Pallbearers: Jason Smedley, Jace Walling, Jacob Smith, Michael Tackett, Joe Tackett and Eric Tackett.
