Blake Fannin, 39, a Morehead boy, living in St. Simons Island for the last nine years, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2020. His heart was always home where his family was.
Born April 23, 1981, in Morehead, Blake is the son of Larry Fannin of Morehead, and the late Barbara Sue Brown Fannin. Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dee and Faith Fannin, and his maternal grandparents, Herman and Irene Brown.
In addition to his father, he is survived by one sister, Lara Fannin of Lexington; one brother, Ty Fannin and wife Melissa of Morehead; four nieces, Abbey Allen, Chelsea Allen Ratliff, Amy Allen, and Presley Fannin; one nephew, Peyton Fannin; one great nephew, Kingston Nared; fiancée, Jami Carter of Blackshear, Georgia; and wife of Larry, Loretta Fannin of Morehead.
Other survivors include aunt and uncle, Carla and David Demarest; two special cousins, Emily Demarest and Adrienne Demarest; other extended family members; and many friends.
He was a 1999 graduate of Rowan County Senior High School and attended Morehead State University. He loved Cave Run Lake where his family had a houseboat for many years and he would ski and ski and ski. Blake was a huge Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs fan. He enjoyed listening to live music, sunrises on the beach, and good friends.
Blake was a man of many colors and he could be any of them at any time. He was slow to move, fast to love, and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Rev. Molly Smothers and Rev. Nancy Gowler officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Cody Greene, Evans Lane, Jamie Clay, David Demarest, Peyton Fannin, Clay Ratliff, Nick Meredith, and Richard Collins.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
