Betty Sue Hamm Day, age 75, of Old Hilda Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025, at UK St. Claire in Morehead.
She was born December 25, 1949, in Morehead, a daughter of the late Oscar Levi Weldon Hamm and Darkes Virginia McKenzie Hamm. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Arnold Hamm, Howard Hamm, and Charlie Hamm, and four sisters: Dorothy Vanlandingham, Eula Crisp, Geneva Hamm, and Linda Bates.
Betty is survived by her husband of 57 years, Claude P. Day, whom she married December 21, 1967; one son, Claude P. Day, Jr., and wife Tyra of Lebanon, Ohio; one daughter, Kelly R. Day Degenhardt and husband Brent of Crestview Hills, Kentucky; one bonus daughter, Brittany Lewis and husband David of Enterprise, Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Gaven Degenhardt, Seth Degenhardt, and Lucas Degenhardt.
Other survivors include two brothers, David Hamm of Owingsville, Kentucky, and Oscar Hamm, Jr., of Nicholasville, Kentucky; one sister, Beulah Holbrook, of Morehead, Kentucky; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Betty was a very popular waitress in Morehead where she worked in multiple restaurants and greeted every customer with a smile. For a number of years she was an employee at Arnold Hamilton Furniture Company in Carter County. She retired in 2005. Betty enjoyed working in her flower beds, keeping up with her loved ones on Facebook, talking with her friends and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.
A memorial service celebrating Betty’s life will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Elijah Sexton officiating.
Visitation for Betty Sue Hamm Day will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
