Bertha Mae Metz Dyer, age 78, of Hope Means Road, Means, Kentucky, formerly of Jeffersonville, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
Born June 5, 1947, in Calhoun County, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Vear Metz and Mabel Mae Louk Metz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Nolan Dyer; and three sisters, Grace Mace, Imma Jean Bowers, and Mary Ann Butler.
She is survived by one son, Phillip Dwayne (Cheryl) Dyer of Means; one daughter, Pamela Sue (Jerry) Richardson of Jeffersonville; four grandchildren, Jon Nolan (Bri) Dyer of Winchester, Christina Louis (Andy) Huber of Jeffersonville, Robert Eugene (Brenda) Rudd of Jeffersonville, and Nicholas Ray (Julie) Rudd of Sharpsburg; and six great-grandchildren, Nolan Keith Dyer, Axel Henderson-Rudd, Kyra Brooklyn Henderson-Rudd, Gregory Wyatt Rudd, Jordan Eli Henderson-Rudd, and Waylon Pride Ratliff.
Other survivors include one brother, Warren Metz; one sister, Elise Hamrick; several nieces and nephews; as well as extended family and friends.
Bertha was a homemaker and a former employee of Cowden’s Manufacturing in Mt. Sterling, Winn-Dixie, Nell’s, and Dough Daddy’s. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and sewing, and loved sitting around the kitchen table, sharing memories of the old days with family and friends over a hot cup of coffee. Most of all, her greatest love and passion was her devotion to her family. Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Jeffersonville Baptist Church, 145 Highway 599, Jeffersonville, with Brother David Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Lovely-Amburgey Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Vernon Martin, Nick Rudd, Robbie Rudd, Donald Knipp, Andy Huber, Nick Keck, and Bobby Paul Arnett.
Honorary Pallbearers: Gregory Wyatt Rudd, Bob Arnett, Jerry Richardson, and Kenneth Colderson.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Jeffersonville Baptist Church, 145 Highway 599, Jeffersonville, KY 40337.
