Bert Junior Peyton, age 63, of Peyton Road, Morehead, passed away Monday, October 4, 2021, at his nephew’s residence.
He was born May 19, 1958, in Rowan County, and was a son of the late Curtis Waldo Peyton and Jessie Madeline Brown Peyton. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Lloyd Peyton, and one sister, Chloe Mays.
Bert is survived by one brother, James Peyton of Haldeman; four sisters, Patty J. (James) Hall of Wellington, Betty O. (Tommy) Fossett of Clearfield, Judy A. (James) Brewer of Haldeman and Linda N. Thurman of Wellington; special friends, Tony and Karen Pettit of Morehead; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family extends special thanks to Melinda Mowen, who provided loving care to Bert this past year and to St. Claire Hospice.
He was a night watchman for Pettit Wood Products and was a member of the Salt Lick Free Will Baptist Church. Bert also attended Family of God Baptist Church and East End Church of God. He enjoyed spending time with family and especially visiting with the Pettit children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bobby Tackett, Jr. and Brother Larry Hamm officiating. Burial will follow at the Peyton Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers: James Peyton, Bucky Catron, Toby Pettit, Blake Pettit, Alexandra Newman, Shane Ackerman, and John Northcutt.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
