Barry Walter Spartman, age 49, of Deer Run Lane, Morehead, passed away Friday, December 23, 2022, at U. K. Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington due to complications from pneumonia.
Born March 5, 1973, in Pikeville, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Charles Edward Spartman and Maudie Evelyn Adkins Spartman. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Barry is survived by his husband of 28 years, Larry Aaron Skaggs; two brothers, Craig Spartman and wife Sheila of Mouthcard, Kentucky, and Mitchell Spartman of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Skaggs of Kenova, West Virginia; a special nephew, Josh Spartman and his wife Whitney of Elkhorn City, Kentucky; grandnieces and one grandnephew, as well as other loved ones and dear friends.
Barry, a library specialist at Camden-Carroll Library at Morehead State University, began his 31-year career at the library as a work-study student at age 18, after graduating from Elkhorn City High School.
Barry enjoyed caring for his two cats, Tobie and Layton, watching movies on Netflix, and boating with Aaron at the lake. Barry was a gentle and loving soul who cared for everyone. He never met a stranger and had a multitude of friends and family. Everyone will miss his generosity and his loving and kind spirit.
A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Katherine Redmond officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
