Barbara Kissinger Obituary

Barbara Planck Kissinger, age 78, of Christy Creek, Morehead, went to be with the Lord following an extended illness on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at St. Joseph Hospital in Mount Sterling, with her devoted children beside her.

Born January 27, 1944, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Planck and Grace Estep Planck.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Ewing Kissinger, Sr., on April 2, 2001, and a brother, Clifford Planck on October 19, 2019.

Barb is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Keeton of Morehead; one son, William Darren Kissinger and wife Natalie of Richmond; grandchildren, Christopher Kissinger, Sara-Grace Kissinger, Marina Kissinger, Ethan Keeton, Brody Kissinger, and Hayden Kissinger; eight great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Dawn Kissinger; father of their children, Ewing Kissinger; special friend, Joann Dehart; and numerous other family members and friends.

Barbara graduated from Rowan County High School and attended Morehead State University.  She was an accountant for Larry Blair, CPA, for 20 years and Major Brands for 25 years, where she was known as a loyal employee who was meticulous in her work.

Although work was a major part of her life, her family was most important to Barbara. She taught her children the importance of family.  She said that many people may go through your life, but your family will always be there.  She was a wonderful mother who loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren unconditionally and they, in turn, loved her greatly.

If you asked Barbara how she made it through the mountains and valleys in her life, she would tell you it was “by the Grace of God.”  In May 1964, at the age of 20, she was baptized by Cecil Ison and John Thornsberry.  She started attending church with Lloyd and Arvetta Dean when she was 12 years old.  She began going to church on her own at age 14 and that inspired her mother, father, and brother to attend church.  She was a member of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God.

During her long battle with cancer and last illness, she never lost her faith.  She would say, “For some reason God wanted me to go through this” and she had faith He would see her through.  Barbara always had this peace about her—she knew she was going home.

She will never be forgotten and will be remembered with love.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2022, with Pastor Cecil Ison officiating.  The service will be live streamed at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Facebook page beginning at 11 a.m.
