Barbara Hamm Kerns, age 85, of Mellwood Lane, Morehead, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born September 11, 1936, in Fleming County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Vestal E. Hamm and Gracie Ross Hamm. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, James L. “Brother Jim” Kerns, Sr. on March 20, 2016; a grandson, Chase Rogers; and two brothers, Vestal Wayne Hamm and Versie Clinton Hamm.
Barbara is survived by her children, Linda Rogers of Cincinnati, Ohio; James L., Jr. (Norma) Kerns of Cincinnati, Ohio, Gary Kerns of Louisville, and Lisa (David) Reichelderfer of Circleville, Ohio; grandchildren, Travis Kerns, Linda (Brandon) Hoover, Jamie (Jenna) Boots and Josh (Teresa) Reichelderfer; and great-grandchildren, Lily Rogers, Christian Bowling, Christian Reichelderfer, Chloe Reichelderfer, Carter Crawford, Remington Hoover, and Colt Hoover.
She is also survived by three brothers, Tommy Hamm, Donald R. Hamm, and Charlie Hamm; one sister, Sandra Christel; numerous nieces and nephews; her church family; and many dear friends.
Barbara grew up in Fleming County and attended Fleming County schools through her freshman year. At the age of 50, she completed her GED and attended Maysville Community College where she received an associate's degree in accounting. With her degree in hand, she applied her newfound skills working as an accountant for Superior Heating & Air in Richmond, Kentucky for over 20 years.
Sister Barbara was a devout Christian and a member of Light of Grace Church. She also loved her precious family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Greg Grimes and her nephew Lance Emory officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Jonathan Hamm, Clint Hamm, Jr., Marvin Emmons, Leroy Hodges, Joe Brandon Hamm, and Josh Reichelderfer.
Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351
