Barbara Sue (Hamilton) Hamm Lawhorn

Barbara Hamm Lawhorn, age 77, of North Tolliver Road, Morehead, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

Born August 19, 1945, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Trace Brooks Hamilton and Rena Fraley Hamilton.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Reverend Kenny Hamilton, Vernon Leon Hamilton, and Milton Eugene Hamilton, and one sister, Helen Tanner. 

Barbara’s first husband, Larry Gene “Buddy” Hamm, passed away on July 16, 1996, and her second husband, Arthur Goble Lawhorn, on January 20, 2015.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Elizabeth Hamm of Auburn, Alabama; one granddaughter, Emma Katherine Hamm; one sister, Mildred Parker of Morehead, as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends, who will miss her greatly.

Barbara and Buddy owned and operated Certified Oil in Morehead for more than 20 years and later she worked at Litton’s Greenhouse for several years.  She loved following Kevin’s golfing career since his childhood.  She enjoyed driving the golf cart everywhere and often chose a route not on the golf path to be close to the green.  She enjoyed Bingo, casinos, game shows and caring for others.  She loved her family unconditionally and was crazy about her loving granddaughter Emma, whom she adored. Barbara will forever be remembered with love. 

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Lansford May officiating.  Burial will follow in Adams-Plank Cemetery     

Pallbearers: Jeff Parker, Danny Blevins, Lee Blevins, Darrel Hamilton, Rex Hamilton, and Alex Hamilton.

Honorary pallbearers: Craig Estep, Vernon, Estep, Leon Hamilton, Mark Hamilton, Tracy Hamilton.  

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
