She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Willie and Sarah Wilson Elam; maternal grandparents, Ruben and Sabrina Sparks Thomas; her parents, Elvis and Ruby Thomas Elam; an infant baby; and one stepson, Gene Russell “Rusty” Hall.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, William Michael “Mike” Hall, Sr., of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one brother, Fred (Marian) Elam of Wilmington, Ohio; two daughters, Diana (Jerry) Beamon and Anita (Jeff) Wells, both of Morehead, Kentucky; one stepson, William Michael “Mikey” Hall, Jr. of Watford, North Dakota; and one stepdaughter, Jeanette Powers of Delray Beach, Florida; two grandchildren, Skylar Howard and Jerra Howard, both of Morehead; step grandchildren, Starly Smoot, Savannah Hall, Roman Patrick, Quinton Hall, Alexandra Dean, Ashley Worley, and her pride and joy, a great-grandson, Bailey Howard.
Also surviving are the father of her grandchildren, Jerry Howard of Morehead, whom she loved dearly; and her three special “angels” from Ridgeway Nursing Home who worked with her daily, going above and beyond all expectations, Gayle Purvis, Linda Stevens, and Carnetta Wilhoit. Several nieces, nephews, and extended family also survive.
Barbara was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She loved flowers and gardening. She had a green thumb and therefore always had beautiful flowers growing. She loved to sit outside watching the birds and wildlife.
Barbara was a homemaker. She had an incomparable talent for creating, sewing, painting, and decorating. She loved music and the arts, especially ballet. Her favorite was “The Nutcracker,” which she watched on television every time it was on and enjoyed as a live performance with her daughters every December for thirty years.
Her family would like to give special thanks to St. Claire Hospice nurses Mackenzie, Rachael, and especially Allison for going so far above and beyond their “job.”
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024, followed by a celebration of life beginning at 7 p.m. with Pastor Ben Furman and Pastor Jeff Fannin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
