Alma Pauline Morehouse Dailey, affectionately known as “Polly” by family and friends, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025.
Born on April 17, 1937, in Cranston, Kentucky, Polly was the daughter of the late Clifton “Kit” and Lizzie Morehouse. She was preceded in death by her brother, Leroy Morehouse; her sisters, Dorothy Pearl Morehouse Jones and infant sister Joyce Morehouse.
Polly is survived by her two sons, Daniel Dailey and Dennis Dailey; three grandchildren, Jessica Ross, Athena Dailey, and Apollo (Pressley) Dailey; her sister, Stella Morehouse Markwell of Clearfield, Kentucky, and five nieces and nephews, Mark Morehouse, Denise Morehouse Nichols, Jennifer (Ron) Freeman, Joe Jones, and Sherry Jones (Paul) Miller. She is also lovingly remembered by several great-nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
A lifelong resident of Morehead, Polly married William Dailey on February 12, 1959, and devoted her life to raising their two sons. Whether cheering Danny on at Breck basketball games or supporting Dennis in his many pursuits, Polly was always her children’s biggest fan.
Later in life, she worked in a variety of community roles, and many may remember her warm smile from the movie theater box office or her kind presence at the Christian school. She found joy in the simple things. Polly had a deep love for flowers and took great joy in gardening, cooking, and working in her yard.
More than anything, Polly loved the Lord. She found salvation and was baptized at the First Church of God in Morehead and remained a faithful servant throughout her life, worshiping for many years at the Clearfield Tabernacle.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” -– from 1 Corinthians 13
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to plant something beautiful in Polly’s memory—just as she lovingly tended to her flowers and nurtured those around her.
She will be remembered for her unwavering love, her quiet strength, and her boundless devotion to family and faith.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 3:00 pm at the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God with Pastor Jeff Fannin officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00. Burial will follow in the Cranston Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Dennis Dailey, Apollo Dailey, Danny Reynolds, Charlie Stamm and Mark Morehouse.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home for their compassionate care and kindness during Polly’s final months.
