Albert Wendell McCalvin, age 69, of Mudlick Road, Salt Lick, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, at UK – St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
He was born February 21, 1956, in Ashland, and was a son of the late Rev. Albert McCalvin and Hazel Fields McCalvin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Randall Dwayne McCalvin and an infant sister, Barbara Sue McCalvin.
Wendell is survived by one son, Steven McCalvin (Sheena) of Olympia; one daughter, Angie McCalvin of Ashland; one brother, Anthony “Tony” McCalvin (Rita) of Salt Lick; one sister, Janet Hendricks (Donald) of Ashland; four grandchildren, Matthew McHenry, Zachary Steven McCalvin, Victoria Marie Smith, and Katherine Grace “Katy Did” McCalvin; and other extended family and friends.
He graduated from Ashland Community & Technical College with an associates degree in telecommunications. Wendell was maintenance manager for Montgomery County Public Library and retired after 15 years of dedicated service.
He enjoyed shooting guns at the Menifee County Fish and Game Club, tinkering on things around the house and loved science fiction, watching the news and the weather channel. Wendell will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
At Wendell’s request, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
