Wynema Prince Reed Sorrell, age 96, of Maxey Flat Road, Hillsboro, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024, at Pioneer Trace Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Flemingsburg surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 14, 1928, in Hillsboro, and was the daughter of the late Zulus Prince and Nora Jane Hay Prince. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Earl Reed, Sr., on October 17, 1997; her second husband, Bill Sorrell, on August 6, 2013; one son, Richard Earl Reed, Jr.; and three grandchildren, Jonathan Reed, Jessica Reed, and Eric Williams.

Wynema is survived by two sons, Ronald D. Reed (Saniea) of Anchorage, Alaska, and Roger Dale Reed (Natalie) Alexandria, Kentucky; four daughters, Debora Hamilton Ginter (Teddy), Carol Ford (Darrell), all of Hillsboro, Sharon Williams (Mark) of Morehead, and Donna Crum (Patrick) of Lancaster; ten grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was a U.S. Army veteran having proudly served her country as a Corporal during the Korean War.  Wynema was private caregiver and a former nurse's aide at Life Care Center in Morehead. She was an active member of the House of Prayer church for nearly 50 years.

Wynema enjoyed sewing, making quilts, gardening, crocheting, and reading. Most of all, she loved her family and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Prince Cemetery on Maxey Flat Road with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Pallbearers will be Greg Hamilton, Bret Hamilton, Zachary Hamilton, Scott Hamilton, Blake Bowman, and Jeff Hamilton.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Reed, Landon Reed and Joe Reed.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
