Obituary

Worlie Baldridge, age 78, of Markleville, Indiana, formerly of Morehead, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016, after an extended illness. He was born December 6, 1937, in Clearfield, Kentucky, to the late Bennie and Nellie Pettit Baldridge and lived most of his life in Indiana. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Anne Caudill Baldridge; a sister, Maxine McCarty; and two brothers, Charles and Lenvil Baldridge. He is survived by his son, Todd Baldridge of Kokomo, Indiana; three sisters, Loretta Cooper (husband, Harvey) of Muncie, Indiana; Shirley Morgan (husband, Ed) of Leesburg, Florida; and Deloris Jones (husband, Waverly) of Morehead, Kentucky; two brothers, Earnie Baldridge (wife, Jan) of Durant, Oklahoma; and Virgil Baldridge (wife, Darlene) of Wabash, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews. Worlie retired in 1996 from General Motors after 30 years with the company. He often expressed gratitude for his brother-in-law, Harvey Cooper, helping him land a job with GM in 1965, which gave Worlie a sense of pride and achievement, in addition to the means of providing for his family through gainful employment. He enjoyed old cars, antique furniture, woodworking, gardening and collecting carnival glass. He also loved listening to country music, fishing for bluegill, watching Reds baseball, and playing solitaire. Vegetable soup was one of his favorite meals, and he was particularly fond of his niece's chicken and dumplings and his wife's rhubarb pie. On his first encounter with a stranger, he would be quick to mention his twin sister, Shirley. He was an animal lover all his life and found a special kinship with both dogs and cats. In his later years, he would 'watch the traffic go up and down Interstate 109' from the comfort of his La-Z-Boy recliner. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with his brother, Earnie Baldridge, officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
