Woodrow Wilson Whisman, age 80, of Salt Lick, passed away Monday, May 18, 2020, at U. K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born July 20, 1939, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Ernest and Shrilda Burton Whisman. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Glen Whisman, James Whisman, Howard Cadle Whisman, and David Whisman, and three sisters, Ina Mae Stacey, Mary Frances Ham, and Juanita E. Sweeney.
Woodrow is survived by his wife, Donna Flagg Whisman, whom he married July 7, 1998; one brother, Jackie Whisman of Morehead; one sister, Bonnie Mason of Morehead; a special step grandson he helped raise, Alijah Burchett; a step son, James Burchett of Morgan County; four step daughters, Tammy Ward, Gail Moore, Angela Newton, and Cynthia Bradley, all of Morehead; 11 step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.
He was a farmer and a former night watchman for White Lumber in Salt Lick. Woodrow enjoyed listening to music, square dancing, wood working, and fishing. He was of the Church of God faith.
Following COVID-19 restrictions, a visitation will be held from 12 noon to 1 p.m. and funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2020, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Ison officiating. (Those who wish to participate may join live streaming of the service at 1 p.m. on Northcutt & Son Facebook page.) Burial will follow at Whisman Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rocky Mason, Eddie Stacy, Anthony Bradley, Jamie McIntosh, James Burchett, Michael Moore, and David Whisman.
