Winford Harold Charles, age 85, of McBrayer Road, Clearfield, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the University of Cincinnati Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Born August 31, 1938, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late Bill Charles and Ivory Mae Adkins Charles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Blandena Reynolds and a stepson, Michael Lee Herron.

Winford is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn Marie Black Charles; four sons, Jeff Charles, Mike Charles, and Joe Charles, all of Clearfield and Jerry Charles of Morehead; one daughter, Donna Burdick of Georgetown; a stepdaughter, Amy Meade of Clearfield; one brother, Donald Charles of Montezuma, Indiana; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was a heavy equipment operator and especially loved fishing and gardening. Winford will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

At his request, there will be no services held.
