Obituary

Wilmer E. Cecil, age 90, of Hwy 705, West Liberty, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012, at his residence. He was born September 15, 1921, in Lee City, Kentucky, to the late Charles Frazier and Mae Rose Cecil. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin daughters, Linda and Brenda Cecil; one brother, C. Woodford Cecil; and two sisters, Gladys C. Nickell and Imogene Pieratt. His wife of 70 years, Emma Dean Carpenter Cecil, passed away March 3, 2012. Wilmer is survived by two sons, Gregory Cecil and wife Sandra of Owingsville, Kentucky, and Brent Cecil and wife Kim of Somerset, Kentucky; two brothers, Charles Cecil, Jr. and wife Betty of Mize, Kentucky, and James -J. W.- Cecil and wife Ava Nell of West Liberty, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Mahala Marie Cecil, Noah Dean Cecil, Justin Harris, Donnie Shrout and wife Jessie, and Robbie Shrout and wife Laura; and three great grandchildren, Rileigh Jo Shrout, Kinleigh Elizabeth Shrout, and Landon Carroll Shrout. Wilmer was a 1941 graduate of Ezel High School and attended Morehead State University. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a staff sergeant. Wilmer was the owner of W. E. Cecil Motors, Inc. from 1975 to 1987 in West Liberty and the previous part-owner and manager of C. F. Cecil & Sons, Inc. from 1948 to 1975. He was a member of the West Liberty Christian Church. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bud Angus and the Rev. Anthony Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in May Cemetery in Morgan County with full military honors by the Morgan County DAV. Pallbearers: Donnie Shrout, Robbie Shrout, J. D. Howard, Brandon Lees, Greg Rupe, Chad Gevedon, Phillip Terry, Robbie Coyle, Kenny Cecil, and Gary Pieratt. Visitation is after 3 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Owingsville Christian Church, P.O. Box 418, Owingsville, KY 40360 or Morgan County Relief Fund, 114 W. Main Street, Morehead, KY 40351. Arrangements are under the direction of Potter Funeral Home, West Liberty, Kentucky. Visitation: Saturday, March 10, 2012, after 3 p.m. Funeral: Sunday, March 11, 2012, at 2 p.m. Interment: May Cemetery in Morgan County
