Obituary

Willis Lee Hunter, age 90, of Highway 519, Clearfield, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born January 13, 1924, in Knott County, he was a son of the late Thomas Jefferson Hunter and Spicie Parker Hunter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Opal Stephens Hunter; two brothers, Frank and Willard Hunter; and three sisters, Pearl Cox, Ruby Jewel Donahue and Bertha Bowser. Mr. Hunter is survived by his wife, Rickie Landis Blair Hunter, whom he married September 17, 1979; three daughters, Carolyn Hunter of Olympia, Marion Opal White of Winchester and Bonnie Thomas of Olympia; one step daughter, Tami Sammons and husband Mickey of Clearfield; one sister, Emogene Tackett of Galion, Ohio; four grandchildren, Barry Porter, Lisa Haney, Darren Davis, and Bruce Thomas; and four great grandchildren, Meghann Edlund, Colton Haney, Riley Davis, and Danielle Morales. Willis was a former mechanic, an avid hunter, and a passionate fisherman who loved being on Cave Run Lake. A lifelong wood craftsman, Willis specialized in making fishing lures and jon boats. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Starcher officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery. Pallbearers: Barry Porter, Darren Davis, Bruce Thomas, Colton Haney, Joey Ashcraft, and Tyler Vanderpool. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
