William G. 'Tuds' Bailey, age 82, of Bullfork Road, Morehead, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015, at his residence. Born January 28, 1933, in Perry County, he was a son of the late William Y. and Chapel McDaniel Bailey. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lowell Fred (Biggon) Bailey and C. W. Bailey. Tuds is survived by his wife of 57 years, George Ann Reeder Bailey, whom he wed October 10, 1958; one daughter, Jeanie Stafford and husband Dennis of Morehead; four grandchildren, Bradley Stafford and wife Kelsie, Jared Stafford and wife Ashley, Bethany Stafford, Hannah Stafford; and 1 great granddaughter, Lydia Stafford. Other survivors include two sisters, Wanda Sizemore and husband Carl of Morehead and Lois Rayburn of Winchester; extended family and friends. Tuds served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956 spending two years in Japan. The last two years were spent in San Diego where he played on the 'Operations' basketball team that played all over California. His team won the conference and he was selected to play on the all-star team. After returning home, he pitched competitive softball for many years leading his team to the state playoffs one year. He taught PE for grades 1-8 at Elliottville Elementary for 22 years and then moved to the newly opened Rowan County Middle School where he taught until he retired. While at Elliottville, he coached boys' and girls' basketball, girls' and boys' track, girls' volleyball, and football. He ran the 'taxi' that picked up and took home players for the games, students that didn't have rides for the fall festivals, etc. His car would be full and overflowing but he loved it. After retiring, he substituted at Rowan County Middle School, The Treatment Center, and Rowan Technical College for many years. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Dr. J. D. Reeder officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Pallbearers: David Sizemore, Bradley Stafford, Jared Stafford, Ben Jackson, Bill Hall, Dennis Stafford, Carl Sizemore, Adam Sizemore, and Jess Sizemore. Visitation is Wednesday, October 14, 2015, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals.
