Obituary

William Lester Powers, age 42, of Ellington Loop, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the St. Joseph Hospice Care Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Born July 20, 1970, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Virgil and Ina Pauline Kegley Powers. William is survived by his wife, Melissa Coleman Powers; one son, William Kyle Powers; two sisters, Lorie Ferguson and husband Chuck, and Melissa Powers, all of Morehead, Kentucky; special nieces and nephew, Zoe Brooke Ferguson, Zerah Paulene Ferguson, and Zeke Bronson Ferguson; father and mother-in-law, Roger and Dolly Coleman of Pikeville, Kentucky; and brother-in-law, Roger Coleman, II. Also surviving are his constant canine companions, Jessie and Little Bit, employees of Morehead Machining, and many friends. He was Co-Owner of Morehead Machining, Inc. with his dear friend Woody Lewis and a 1988 graduate of the Rowan County Senior High School and graduate of Rowan County Technical College. William was a loving husband and found the love of his life on March 17, 2012, Melissa. His loving wife also found the love her life with William and the love story will never end. He was a very proud father and brother who lived life to the fullest. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed riding his Harley with his friends, hunting, fishing, and watching the U. K. Wildcats. William was a Christian and always believed in doing the right thing. He was a caring and compassionate man that everyone loved being around. He will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the First Church of God, 576 Sunset Drive, Morehead, Kentucky with the Rev. Lloyd Dean and the Rev. Rusty Hedrick officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Jeff Parker, Jeff Jones, Chuck Ferguson, Roger L. Coleman II, Mike Morehouse, Paul Manning, Keith Manning, Brad Kegley, Kenny McDaniel, Woody Lewis, Chuck Emmons, and Wes Meade. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Morehead Machining and his hunting and riding friends. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. In lieu of flowers to honor Will and Melissa's love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to S.T.A.R., P.O. Box 454, Morehead, KY 40351. Visitation: Friday, May 24, 2013, 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral: Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the First Church of God Interment: Forest Lawn Mausoleum
