William Allan Perkins III, age 53, of Jackson Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Born April 4, 1955, in Charlottesville, Virginia, he is the son of William Allan Perkins, Jr. of Deltaville, Virginia, and Ann Patterson Perkins of Charlottesville, Virginia. Survivors include his wife, Emma Gillespie Perkins; one son, Taylor Portsmouth of Morehead, Kentucky; one daughter Ariel Perkins of Morehead, Kentucky; and one grandson, Gabriel Portsmouth. Also surviving are two brothers, Howell Perkins of Richmond, Virginia, and Channing Perkins of Glenn Allen, Virginia; and one sister, Wendy Winkler of Charlottesville, Virginia; and three nephews, Ryan Winkler, William and Chan Perkins. Allan was a graduate of Eckerd College with a B.A. in English. He was an investor, a poet and active in community service. Allan was the website administrator for the People to People organization and the Kentucky Art Association. He was a very dedicated volunteer for the Morehead State University Art Department and the Rowan County Speech Team. He was a member of the St. Alban-s Episcopal Church. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2008, at the St. Alban-s Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in the Ginter Cemetery in Menifee County. Pallbearers will be Harry Gillespie, Taylor Portsmouth, Howell Perkins, Channing Perkins, Keith Winkler, and Bob Franzini.
