Obituary

William Ray 'Billy' James, 59, of Greenbend Road, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at his home. Born October 26, 1956, he is the son of Peggy Joe James of Morehead and Billy Ray James, who passed away February 13, 2016. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Joe James, and one daughter, Stacy James. In addition to his mother, Billy is survived by his wife, Brenda Plank James, whom he married October 22, 1988; two sons, Richie (Madeline) James of Lexington and Sean (Amy) Plank of Dry Ridge; and two granddaughters, Lily and Gabby James. Other survivors include two sisters, Debra James and Diana (Frank) Clark, all of Farmers, as well as nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. Billy graduated from Rowan County High School in 1975. He retired in December 2015 from the Morehead Utility Plant Board as a Class-4 water plant operator after 40 years of service. He loved history, the outdoors, telling great stories for the entertainment of others, and spending time with his family and his dogs, Pippa and Arnold. He was a member of the Church of God Headquarters Heaven. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Don Evans officiating. Interment will be in the James Family Cemetery at Slaty Point. Visitation is from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
