William Dale 'Bill' Walker, Jr., 59, of Whipporwill Valley, Morehead, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013, at his home. He was born July 25, 1954, in Ashland, a son of the late William Dale Walker, Sr., and Violet Cornett Walker. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Eunice Trent Cornett and William Russell Walker and Ruth Johnson Walker. Bill is survived by one sister, Ella Walker, and one nephew, Frankie Helwig, both of Morehead, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends Bill graduated from Rowan County High School in 1973 and spent the next four years serving his country in the U.S. Air Force as an MP, both in the U.S. and in Korea. He received a degree in engineering from Morehead State University and worked as a Kentucky state mine inspector for more than twenty years. Later he became an independent general contractor. While living in Texas, he managed an apartment complex in Dallas and was a substitute teacher in Rockwell. Bill's favorite activities-traveling, hunting, fishing and eating-generally involved his 'good buddies' from childhood. Bill will be remembered as a person who respected the environment, a very good friend, and an even greater brother. A memorial service will be conducted 7 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating. Military honors will be presented by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is 6 p.m. Thursday at Northcutt & Son In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Claire Hospice and Palliative Care, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351 or Veterans Affairs, Attn: Volunteer Services, 1101 Veterans Drive, Lexington, KY 40502 (Phone 859-233-4511, Ext. 5280) Visitation: Thursday, October 24, 2013, at 6 p.m. Funeral: Thursday, October 24, 2013, at 7 p.m.
