Wilburn D. Baldridge, age 84, of Dry Creek, Clearfield, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015, at UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington. Born December 27, 1930, in Rowan County, he was preceded in death by his parents, John Baldridge and Ada Bowman Baldridge; two brothers, Harold Baldridge and Ernest Baldridge; one sister, Freida Robinson; one brother-in-law, Galen Conn; and one infant daughter, Debra Ann Baldridge. Wilburn is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pauline Workman Baldridge, whom he married May 3, 1954; one daughter, Ramona Baldridge Purnell and husband Wendell of Morehead; two grandchildren, Cody Purnell of Morehead and Amanda Purnell of Lexington. He is also survived by one brother, Medford Baldridge and wife Bobbie Jean, and one sister, Rhelda Jean Baldridge Conn, all of Morehead; and a host of special brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends. He also leaves behind his fellow companion and ever-watchful dog, Coco. Wilburn proudly served as a U.S. Army Sergeant in the Korean War from 1951-1953. He worked at Lee Clay Products Co., Williams-Nickell Oil Co., and retired from Rowan County Schools. Wilburn was a member of the East End Church of God in Morehead. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ray Glover officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
