Wilbur Camp Hardin, age 83, of Whitaker Street, Morehead, Kentucky, exited this life Sunday, August 23, 2009, at his residence. He was born February 14, 1926, in Rowan County, Kentucky, to Dorsie Ray Hardin, Sr. and Zona McKenzie Hardin. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Philemon Hardin and Melvin -Frosty- Hardin. Wilbur is survived by his wife of 55 years, Violet Lewis Hardin, whom he wed on September 6, 1953; two daughters, Debra Hardin of Maysville, Kentucky, and Vickie Hardin Scescke and husband Francis of Chicago, Illinois; one son, Jeffery G. Hardin of Morehead, Kentucky; and five grandchildren, Beatrice Scescke, Kirstin Hardin, Augusta Scescke, Logan Hardin, and Trevor Hardin.
Also surviving are two brothers, Don Hardin and wife Patricia and Dorsey Hardin, Jr.; one sister-in-law, Margena Hardin; special -daughter- Sally Trent and husband Gary, all of Morehead, Kentucky; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. Wilbur was a veteran of World War II serving in Patton-s 3rd Army. He was an extra in the movie Elizabethtown filmed in Versailles, Kentucky by Paramount Pictures in 2004. Wilbur was a former driller for Harbison Walker Refractories Company in Olive Hill, Kentucky, a retired builder, plumber, electrician, bricklayer and farmer. He really enjoyed people, antiquing, and telling stories. He was a member of the Morehead First Church of the Nazarene. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Brian Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery with full military rites by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Robert F. Lewis, Jack Lewis, Tom Lewis, Jeffery Hardin, Logan Manship, and Trevor Manship. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Claire Cardiac Rehab, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351. Visitation: Tuesday, August 25, 2009, from 6-9 p.m. Funeral: Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at 3 p.m. Interment: Brown Cemetery
