Obituary

Wendill Scott White, Sr., age 65, of Morehead, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015, at the V. A. Medical Center in Lexington. Born November 29, 1949, in Morehead, he was a son of the late Orville C. and Reba Lee Caudill White. Wendill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joyce Peters White, whom he married December 14, 1968; two sons, Wendill Scott White, Jr. and Walter Clifton White, both of Morehead; two brothers, Deward (Genieve) White of Clearfield and Ronald Joe (Patty) White of Morehead; three sisters, Ermagene Donahue, Geralene (Larry) Porter, and Debbie (Dale) Mabry, all of Morehead; five grandchildren, Wendill James Scott White, Elizabeth Faith Ann White, Shayla Grace White, Haley Lewis, and Devan Robbins; very special nieces and nephews; cousins; and many, many friends. Wendill graduated from Morehead State University, served in the U. S. Army for two years during the Vietnam War, was a member of the National Guard for four years, and was a prominent businessman and business owner. As a young man, Wendill began working at Red Head Service Station on West Main Street in Morehead. He then served as vice president for Maloney's Department Store and Heck's Department Store for 27 years and later worked for Apollo Oil. Wendill founded both White's Ready Mart on Main Street and White's Rentals in 1989. A Christian, Wendill attended Johnson First Church of God. He was a member of Morehead American Legion Post No. 126, an avid U.K. basketball fan, and enjoyed reading, horseback riding, hunting, especially with his dogs, and fishing with his brothers, Joe and Deward. Wendill lived for his family, especially the grandchildren, whom he adored. He was always a hard worker and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was the 'Rock' for his entire family and mentor to all. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with a memorial service at 8 p.m. with Brother Johnny Hatfield officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Morehead American Legion Post 126 immediately following the service. Pallbearers will be Rob Howard, Ray Howard, Tab Howard, Duane Flannery, Joey White, and Kyle Caudill. Honorary pallbearers will be James Scott White, Cliff White, Scott White, and Devan Robbins. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Morehead American Legion Post 126 Building Fund, P. O. Box 58, Morehead, KY 40351 or Community Soup Kitchen, 3103 Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, KY 40351. Visitation: Wednesday, January 14, 2015, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Funeral: Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at 8 p.m.
