Obituary

Wayne Allen Herron, age 73, of May Road, Morehead, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington. He was born October 8, 1942, in Muncie, Indiana, a son of Glen Herron and Helen Simpson Herron. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, James Allen May on August 12, 2001, and a brother-in-law, Arlie May on May 21, 2012. Wayne is survived by two sisters, Glenda May of Morehead and Alma (Denzil) Davis of Muncie, Indiana; three nephews, Gardner (Katie) May of Morehead, Scott (Connie) Davis of Lexington, and Tim Davis of Muncie, Indiana; six great nieces, Arlenda May of Morehead, Amy (Aaron) Smith of Jenkins, Jessica Spears, Kristen Est, Diana Knuckols and Denise Arnold, all of Muncie, Indiana; two great nephews, James II (Brittany) May of Morehead and Justin Davis of Muncie, Indiana; three great-great nieces, Maddisyn May and Khole May of Morehead and Sophie Smith of Jenkins; three great-great nephews, Trenton Hall, Lyam May and Austin May, all of Morehead; and his best friend, John May of Morehead. The May family welcomed and loved Wayne as a brother for over 50 years. Wayne worked in Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, California, and several other states as a member of the United Welders and Pipefitters Union and was a former employee of Fannin Industries in Morehead. He enjoyed watching sports, reading, playing games and horseshoes, and listening to six-year-old Maddie tell her stories. Wayne was raised on a farm near Eaton, Indiana, and graduated from Eaton High School. He served from 1964 1966 in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Germany. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Lansford May and Brother Landon Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in May Cemetery with full military honors by Corbie Ellington American Legion Post 126. Pallbearers: Gardner May, James May II, John May II, DeWayne May, Terry Adams, Jr., and Scott Davis. Honorary pallbearers: John May, Sam May, J. R. May, Tim Davis, Jeff Parker, April Barker, Robert Blevins and Tony Puckett. Visitation is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
