Wayne Caudill

Wayne Caudill, age 88, of Open Fork Road, Morehead, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at his home.

Born June 29, 1938, at Olive Hill, in Carter County, he was a son of the late Willie Caudill and Georgeann Goodan Caudill. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, William, Harles, Harold, Herbert, Denvil, Roger, and Elwood Caudill, and one sister, Evelyn King.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley Puckett Caudill, whom he wed April 24, 1965; his devoted daughter, Kimberly Lloyd of Delaware, Ohio; and his loyal canine companions, “Traveler” and “Baby Carson.”

Others to cherish his memory include one brother, George “Frosty” Caudill and wife Faye, and one sister, Carolyn Clark and husband Charles, all of Olive Hill, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Wayne retired from the Rowan County School District where he served faithfully as a custodian in Elliottville and Rodburn schools for a number of years. He enjoyed his family, especially sparring with Kim about the UK Wildcats and President Trump, sitting on the porch, and visiting with family and friends. Wayne enjoyed holidays and loved Christmas tree lights and decorated Christmas trees. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Fraley Chapel Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Bradley and Bro. Buris Leadingham officiating. Burial will follow in New Sill Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation for Wayne Caudill will be held 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, and from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
