Wathan Armstrong, age 79, of U.S. 60 West, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at his residence. Born December 16, 1928, at Mt. Hope in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Richmond Thomas Armstrong and Maggie Gregory Armstrong. He was also preceded in death by a brother, C. L. -Booge- Armstrong. His only child, Brenda Armstrong Woodall, passed away December 1, 2007. Wathan is survived by his wife of 62 years, Juanita Lambert Armstrong; one granddaughter, Donna Carol Woodall; one sister, Freida Switzer; and one brother, Pete Armstrong, all of Morehead, Kentucky. A lifelong resident of Rowan County, Wathan attended Breckinridge Training School and graduated from Morehead High School. He worked at Carr Lumber Company for 17 years and served as Rowan Circuit Clerk for 21 years. He was a former chairman of the Rowan County Democratic Party, co-owner of Jerry-s Restaurant, and developer of Hill-N-Dale Estates and in Morgan County Poppin Rock Enterprises. Wathan and Juanita also founded The Style Shoppe. He was a member of the Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Starcher and the Rev. Vernon Winston Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be nephews Butch Armstrong, Rick Armstrong, Stefan Armstrong, Preston Armstrong, Tommy Armstrong, and Michael Armstrong. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Thursday, January 17, 2008, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Friday, January 18, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens
