Obituary

Wanetta Ward Setser of Green Valley Acres, Morehead, Kentucky, formerly of Van Lear, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center. She was born in Auxier, Kentucky, on February 28, 1916, to James Oliver and Sarah Agnes Ward, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Frank Setser, and one brother, Quentin Ward. She is survived by one sister, Carlis Butcher of Van Lear, Kentucky; two sons, Howard (Jo Anne) Setser of Morehead, Kentucky, and James Lowell (Mary Helen) Setser of Marietta, Georgia; three granddaughters, Elizabeth (Michael) Berry of May-s Lick, Kentucky, Kimberly (Chad) Cochran of Atlanta, Georgia, and Linda (Steve) Campisi of Acworth, Georgia; three grandsons, David (Ellen Vos) Setser of Boston, Massachusetts, James Anthony Setser of Kennesaw, Georgia, and Scott Setser of Fort Worth Texas; seven great grandchildren Christopher, Thomas, and William Campisi, Whitney Vos, Jacob and Joshua Berry, Katherine Cochran; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Setser, a life-long Christian, was a member of the First Christian Church of Paintsville, Kentucky. She was a graduate of Van Lear High School and attained BA and MA degrees, and Rank I certification in elementary education from Morehead State University. After several years of teaching in a one-room country school in Johnson County, Kentucky, she continued her career at Porter Elementary, until she retired in 1980. During her retirement, Mrs. Setser became an avid quilter and delighted in presenting each of her children and grandchildren with a beautiful quilt for Christmas. She also enjoyed raising beautiful flowers both indoors and in her yard and during her last years especially enjoyed bird watching from her easy chair. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Bruce Nettleton beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in Brown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Setser, James Anthony Setser, Scott Setser, Michael Berry, Allen Risk, and Larry Dillon. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 19, and on Saturday, June 20, one hour prior to funeral services at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Morehead United Methodist Church Building Fund, 227 W. Main Street, Morehead, KY 40351. Visitation: Friday, June 19, 2009; 6-8 p.m. and 1 hr. prior to service Sat. Funeral: Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 11 a.m. Interment: Brown Cemetery
