Wanda Sue
(Caudill) Dowdy
Jan 2, 1949 — Aug 29, 2024
Wanda Sue Caudill Dowdy, 75, of Morehead, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born January 2, 1949, in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Willie Caudill and Inez Crisp Caudill.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Lonnie "Buck" Dowdy, whom she married March 14, 1969; two sons, Steven Dowdy and wife Jennifer of Lexington and John Dowdy and wife Heather of Flemingsburg; and four cherished grandchildren, Jacob and Audrey of Lexington and Presley and Cole of Flemingsburg.
Wanda was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother whose family was her primary focus. She gladly provided support and guidance, acceptance and appreciation, and always "boundless love." Her greatest joy came from family, especially making memories with the grandchildren from everyday sports activities to special events. Wanda was determined to do anything she set her mind to and enjoyed meeting her goals. She graduated from Rowan County High School in 1967 and was a former Rowan County Public Library Bookmobile driver, Morehead State University business office employee, and Occasions Gift Shop employee. Wanda was a member of Elliottville Baptist Church where she was a choir member for several years. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held Monday, September 2, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tim Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Dowdy, Brett Dowdy, Mark Dowdy, Clyde Mays, Jr., Kenny Adkins, Steve Green, and Marty Green.
Visitation for Wanda will be Sunday, September 1, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
