Obituary

Walter Billy Ramey, age 64, of State Hwy 1646, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born September 15, 1946, in Rowan County, Kentucky to the late Morrow Richard and Myrtle Conway Ramey. Billy was also preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Dorothy Jean Slusher Ramey, who passed away June 26, 2003. He is survived by two sons, Michael Paul Ramey of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and James Matthew Ramey of Morehead, Kentucky, and five grandchildren, Jonathan Paul Ramey, Michael Wayne Ramey, Matthew Keith Ramey, Kelly Elizabeth Ramey, and Jesse Dewayne Martin. Other survivors include four brothers, Eddie Ramey and Steve Ramey, both of Morehead, Kentucky, Robert Ramey of Aberdeen, Ohio, and Douglas Ramey of West Liberty, Kentucky; three sisters, Joyce Smedley and Faye Thompson, both of Morehead, Kentucky, and Cindy Jo Rybicki of Ormand Beach, Florida. Billy served in the U.S. Army from May 16, 1967 to May 8, 1969. He was an M16 expert rifleman and received the Vietnam Service Medal and two overseas bars. Billy retired from Morehead State University as a Building Service Technician after 30 years of service, was employed by I-64 Shell for 20 years, and was a volunteer at St. Claire Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. H. G. Pratt officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennnings Cemetery on Lower Oak Grove Road with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Michael Paul Ramey, James Matthew Ramey, Bobby Walton, Anthony Mabry, Jason Ramey, and David Jessee. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Tuesday, August 2, 2011, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at 11 a.m. Interment: Jennings Cemetery
