Walter Ray Hammack, age 73, of Camargo Road, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at the St. Joseph Hospital, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. Born March 19, 1937, in Morgan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late James and Nora Wells Hammack. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Amy Perkins and two brothers, Paul Eddie Hammack and Curtis Hammack. Mr. Hammack is survived by his wife, Marjorie Woosley Hammack, two daughters, Connie (David) Wilson and Gail (Steve) Creech, all of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; one son, Gerald (Jane) Hammack of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Stephanie Witt, Stephen Ray Creech, Meghan DeMoss, Andrew Hammack, and Tyler Wilson; and three great grandchildren, Makayla Witt, and Allyson and Alexis Irish. Also surviving are three sisters, Mildred Myers and Dorothy Vivian, both of Jeffersonville, Kentucky, and Evelyn Caskey of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and one brother, Stanley -Bobby Joe- Hammack of Sharpsburg, Kentucky. Mr. Hammack was the owner and operator of Hammack-s Locust Auto Repair and Hammack-s Towing Service in Mt. Sterling. He was a member of the Spring Street Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2010, at the Jeffersonville Baptist Church with the Rev. John Runyon and the Rev. Steve Creech officiating. Burial will follow in the Machpelah Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dewayne Myers, Jason Hammack, John Hammack, Eddie Hammack, Shawn Caskey, Chris Caskey, Monty Vivian, Marty Vivian, Tyler Wilson, Andrew Hammack, and Stephen Creech. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Darnell, Bob Sexton, Oscar George, Mike Rose, Charlie Thompson, Ivan Clemons, Glenn George, Gary Booth, and Jimmy Vivian. Visitation is from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010, at the Jeffersonville Baptist Church, 145 KY Hwy 599, Jeffersonville, Kentucky. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky. Visitation: Thursday, September 30, 2010, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the church Funeral: Friday, October 1, 2010, at 1 p.m. at the Jeffersonville Baptist Church Interment: Machpelah Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky
