Walter Forman, 82, of Clearfield, husband of Mabel Forman, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016, at his home. Born to the late Oddie and Sena Skaggs Forman on June 10, 1933, at Paragon in Rowan County, he is the brother of Margarette (Foley) Partin of Clearfield. Walter served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and married Mabel Slusher on August 1, 1956. He retired from the State Transportation Department where he worked in Engineering at the Flemingsburg office. After his retirement, he and Mabel wintered at their home in Port Charlotte, Florida. He leaves five children to honor and cherish his memory: Anita Broomall, Georgetown; Diana (Mitch) Hatton, Clearfield; Jean (John) Mahaney, Clearfield; Lisa (Brent) Back, Clearfield; Eric (Sarah) Forman, Nicholasville; eleven loved grandchildren: Michael (Lauren) Broomall, Lincoln University, Pennsylvania; Risa Shafer (Danny) Boyd, Morehead; Chris (Megan Wallace) Shafer, Clearfield; Jade Shafer (Derrick) Jones, Pompano Beach, FL; Collin Alexander, Clearfield; Canon (Tiffany) Mahaney, Slade; Braden, Cade, and Piper Back, all of Clearfield; Cory and Emily Forman, Nicholasville; four special great grandchildren: Hayley and Camron Boyd, Morehead; Audrey and Gretta Jones, Pompano Beach, Florida. He leaves behind the parents of his grandchildren: Jennifer Forman, Nicholasville; Will Alexander, Salt Lick; Bruce Broomall, Quincy, Florida; his dog, Pepper Spud, whom he thought the world of and loved dearly. He found comfort in having her near. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including his nephew, Sam Fields, who helped him so much both in Kentucky and in Florida. Also special friends: Bob Day, Sam Cross, Sammy Hall, Nick Lytle, and Cliff Barker, all of Morehead; Keri Burge, Morehead, whom he loved as a granddaughter; Ike Ferguson, Patricia Morgan, and Linda Daily, all of Port Charlotte, Florida; Jane Mers, Pete Shaffer, Jennifer Flora and many other co-workers in the Flemingsburg office; church friends at Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God and his friends at Kingdom Hall, Morehead. The family would like to thank Hospice nurses Brenda, Loval, Anita Jo and Stephanie and caregiver Judy Terry for all their care and support. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Ison officiating. Burial will follow in Crix Cemetery with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Grandsons Michael Broomall, Chris Shafer, Collin Alexander, Canon Mahaney, Braden Back, Cade Back, Cory Forman, and Camron Boyd will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
