Walter Zane Dailey, age 68, of Mocabee Creek, Olive Hill, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born March 9, 1955, at home on Porter Creek in Carter County, and was a son of the late Daniel Dailey and Jesteen Lucy Rice Dailey. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Walter Allen Dailey and two brothers, Blaine and Montana Dailey.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eugenia Conn Dailey, whom he married June 19, 1978; one son, Billy Dailey (Jackie); two daughters, Tina Dailey and Brenda Canterbury (Johnny), all of Olive Hill; 12 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Carson Dailey and Naimon Dailey; one sister, Evonne Henderson, all of Olive Hill; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.
He began working as a truck driver for the Mushroom Mines in Lawton, and was a farmer and logger. Zane retired from Ken-More Stone after 20 plus years as an equipment operator and done other various duties.
Zane had a "green thumb" and enjoyed gardening and especially playing with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and remembered with love.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Soldier Church of God, Old Soldier Road, Olive Hill, KY 41164, with Brother Clifford "Tippy" Price and Brother Byron Hargett officiating. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Bill Dailey, Paul Conn, Johnny Canterbury III, Douglas Kilgore, Cheyenne Henderson, Cameron Canterbury, and Johnny Canterbury IV
Honorary pallbearers: Calvin Conn and Wayne Dailey
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351
