Vivian Flood Carpenter, age 84, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012, at her home. Vivian was known as -Pig- to her family and many friends. She had been a successful business woman in Morehead as owner of Vi-s Jewelry. A graduate of Breckinridge, she attended Morehead State University. She was a member of Morehead First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She was an avid supporter of Morehead State University and loved Kentucky basketball. Pig enjoyed hosting derby parties in her home. Born March 19, 1927, in Morehead, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late V. D. (Mike) Flood and Nell Shelton Flood. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Carpenter; one brother, Charles H. (Bubby) Flood; one sister, Frances Laughlin; one nephew, Jim Bob Laughlin; and two brothers-in-law, Bob Laughlin and George (Shorty) Wiggins. She is survived by one sister, Gladys F. Wiggins of Mt. Clemens, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Theira Flood of Clinton, Tennessee; three nieces, Patty (Wiggins) Hartman and Ron of Grand Blac, Michigan, Annelle (Wiggins) Roose and John of Linden, Michigan, and Cherri (Wiggins) Peterson of Stuart, Florida; and two nephews, Mike Flood and Teresa of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Chuck Flood and Donna of Clinton, Tennessee. Several grand nieces and nephews also survive. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the funeral at 1 p.m. The Rev. Molly Smothers will officiate. Interment will follow at Caudill Cemetery on West Main Street.
